Relocation of a number of juniors is an important boost to cricket in our village
More than 40 people attended a ‘meet and greet’ meeting at Bishop Monkton Village Hall in January.

The purpose of the meeting was to introduce members of another Junior CC to players and committee members of Bishop Monkton Cricket Club.

Philip Evans welcomed parents, coaches and junior players to the Village Hall and gave an outline of what our Cricket Club hoped to achieve and what role the ‘new’ junior section would play.

Tony Whittaker added that he hoped the junior players would eventually play for the first team and contribute to their success.

The juniors, from another club, will be relocating some 40 junior players and support staff to Bishop Monkton at the start of the new season and will form part of the Bishop Monkton Cricket Club.  Several juniors from a number of other clubs have expressed their interest.

They will be playing in the new Nidderdale Development League and will be playing their games on a Sunday with training on a Thursday evening.

Refreshments were supplied by Lesley Shervington and following a tour of our facilities concluded with a welcoming drink at the Lamb and Flag.
