2019 Season

As in recent seasons we are struggling for players though we are far from unique with virtually all clubs having similar problems. Already there have been casualties with one club and several 2ndXI's dropping out as the season progresses.

Under the captaincy of Charlie Hutchinson  and despite some close finishes we have won just 2 of our games to date, the most recent being a good victory against Spofforth (Sat 13 July).  We scored 197-9 with Charlie scoring 47 and Phlip Evans 42.  We then restricted them to 174-9 in their 40 overs with wickets spread about and Simon Evans, with 3 for 36, being the pick.

It's tight at the bottom of our Division (3) and this victory unfortunately didn't lift us off the bottom!  However 9 matches to go.

You can see the League table by  Clicking here.  Because of a new club (from outside the normal area) joining the league next season there are 3 teams to be relegated from Div 3.

2018 Season End Match reports

These two victories ensure that we avoided relegation and stayed in Division 3 for yet another season

Nine wickets win over Newby Hall

The home match against Newby Hall on Saturday, September 15 was a short one

Newby Hall only managed a score of 72, with Charlie Hutchinson (4 for 18) and Dan Wigby ( 2  for 28) ploughing through their batsmen.

In response Bishop Monkton  knocked the runs off with the loss of only one wicket. Charlie Hutchinson scored 41 and captain Tony Whittaker scored  26.

The previous week's away game at Middleham wasn’t played because of rain.

The next fixture is on Saturday, September 22 is an away game at South Kilvington  We are just out of the relegation zone so it all depends on this match and  what Middleham do against Newby!

At South Kilvington - Victory!

We bowled them out for 132 and knocked off the runs for the loss of 1 wicket.

This victory ensured we avoided relegation.

So the inevitable victory Middleham had over Newby was immaterial.

Now we need to think about next season with a huge drive necessary for extra players.
