Announcement at morning service

Rev Sheila explains why she will be leaving our Parish Church

The Rev Sheila Murray, who has been Associate House for Duty Priest  for Bishop Monkton and Burton Leonard Parish Churches, announced at Sunday's morning service that she will be leaving this position at the end of October.

She has issued this statement to explain her decision:

''It is with regret that I announced at Church today that I am leaving at the end of October.

This has not been an easy decision, but one we have thought and prayed about over the last few months.

We wish to spend more time with our grandson, who is now three years old. Currently they live five hours away and we wish to be nearer and to be able to go and see them at weekends (which is not possible at the moment).

Also, Andy retired in 2006 but since then I have either been working full time, or been away for three years out of four at college. And then since ordination in 2011 I have been working more or less full time (unpaid) by the Church of England. We need and want to spend some time together now.
My last Sunday will be  October 27.

We have enjoyed living in Bishop Monkton and exploring this beautiful part of the country''.
