Malcolm Scholey

Funeral of member of Church choir

The funeral took place of Malcolm Scholey at  Bishop Monkton Parish Church where he had sung in the choir for many years. He was 87.

The service was conducted by The Revd. Christopher Cornwall, who was priest in charge here before his retirement, and who knew Malcolm as a loyal member of the choir.
Malcolm, who had lived in the village for over 30 years, worked as a sales representative with a Swedish paper company before his retirement.

He was a keen golfer, a member of Knaresborough Golf Club  and was still playing the occasional round until quite recently.

He is survived by his widow, Eileen, two daughters, Diane and Elaine, a son, Bryan, and seven grandchildren.

At the service Bryan paid a glowing tribute to his father. The service ended movingly with the choir singing a Blessing.

Afterwards family and friends attended a reception at the Mason's Arms.  Donations in memory of Malcolm were for Prostate Cancer Research.
