Summer Tea Party & Summer Lunch

Methodist Church says 'thank you' for your support for these two events

The village Methodist Church would like to thank all those who attended the Summer Tea on June 30 and The Summer Lunch on July 23. Your support of our outreach to others both locally, national and overseas is
an inspiration (writes David Bray).

We would also wish to thank those people who donated food to the events and gave their time and talents to making them such a success.

The Summer Tea Party was in aid of the Ripon Walled Garden Project and raised £347 for the charity. Forty two people sat down to beautifully set up tea tables with all the china, cake stands and table cloths giving a very posh
appearance. However, even better than the ‘set up’ was the food which looked and tasted superb. We were waited on by a number of young ladies from the Methodist Youth Club and we are grateful to them for their contribution.

The Summer Lunch was in aid of the Down’s Syndrome Charity and ticket sales and donations reached £500. Again 42 people sat down to lunch along with the new guide dog in training. We were also joined by local children who had their own area away from boring adults and nearer the food. This time we had to serve ourselves from a very tempting table full of the best of Yorkshire. The main course was followed by some beautiful puddings offering a great temptation to ask for ‘seconds’ and then tea or coffee.
