Table Tennis Club honours members

Richard Field, Chairman and founder of Bishop Monkton Table Tennis Club, and his wife, Pat, who has been club secretary for the past eight years, stood down from their roles at the club's AGM. They are seen here receiving life memberships and a voucher for lunch at the Wensleydale Heifer in appreciation of their services to the club from Treasurer Martin Minett. On the left is Ken Barker who has succeeded Richard as Chairman.

The loss of a good friend

A moving eulogy for Chris O’Gorman was given by his son, Richard, at his father’s funeral at St;Teresa’s RC Church, Darlington, on 19 November 2018.

Chris died suddenly aged 69 at his home in Middleton St George on 25 October.

Chris and Brenda had lived in Bishop Monkton since 1988 and immersed themselves in village life.

He played cricket for the Bishop Monkton side, organised several jumble sales for club funds, sang in village concerts and in the Parish Church choir on special occasions and both were keen members of the Table Tennis Club. They left the village to move to the North East in 2017.
